A Work In Progress Post!

Hello everyone!

It's been a while! I should be a lot better about posting on my blog, huh? I've been working hard on costumes for Dragon*Con though! It'll be my first year attending this convention and I'm really excited about it! I get to meet a guildmate/friend in person and that has me all fired up to work on my Guild Wars 2 costume! So far, I've made most of the top (Minor details and a bit of touch ups are left as of this post). I have also made the staff 'Monsoon' and the Desert Rose backpiece! This is based on my previous WvW armor.(Oh, and some of the pictures in this post don't show the latest progress)

I'm also going to be cosplaying Rin from Little Busters. I decided I wanted to do something really special for the costume, and I had talked about making a giant Dorj just after I got the costume while I was in Japan. So I did just that! He's kind of absolutely huge. He comes up to nearly my waist and he's a lot wider than I am. The funniest thing about him is before I put on the ears and legs and stripes/face, he kind of looked like a potato. So I've been calling him my potatocat.  He's also reeeeeeeally huggable. He has three pillows worth of stuffing inside of him

I'm also working on Southsun Claire (GW2 Swimsuit Claire). I like to take bathing suits and get in the pool at the hotels I stay in, so I thought it would be really great to cosplay characters in swimsuits; this time happens to be Claire!  It mostly started out as a joke. After being unable to work on costumes for so long, I didn't know if I had time or the ability to make my light armor costume. I joked that if I procrastinated long enough, I could just find a yellow swimsuit and call it Southsun Claire.
I now only have minor touch-ups left on the swimsuit, but here's a preview from several weeks ago.

And not quite costume related, but I went thrifting the other day and found myself and incredibly cute new outfit!

  1. I can't wait to see you at Dragon*Con ^_^ I know how getting busy can get. I had to cancel the Woeful costume I really wanted to do because things have been so busy with a lot of stuff dragging on far longer than scheduled. Still deciding which cosplay to recycle ATM ^^'

I can't wait to see the final results in person. I'll be happy to help you around since this is probably my 8th time there.

My cat is loving your potatocat. She keeps rubbing her cheek on it's picture :3

  2. That's so adorable! My cats started out terrified of the behemoth potatocat but now they reluctantly coexist with it. They don't normally touch it because they basically sink into him (he's too soft for their liking apparently). It's a little amusing because they get surprised when they accidentally touch him while they're playing or something but the surprise easily looks like an apology to potatocat. (I'm rambling, sorry X3)

I can't wait to see you as well! It's going to be so much fun! I'm sure whatever costume you end up doing will be really amazing anyway <3. I understand canceling costumes due to being too busy.

    1. Mine is still in the young kitten mindset of everything is nice, nothing is scary, and everything can be played with (well....except water, she doesn't like that obviously X3). That does sound like a cute thing to watch, especially semi-apologizing to potatocat :3

Yeah, we may have to work out live communication as it gets closer to the time. It is spread across 4 hotels and there are thousands of people there so even if you know what you are looking for and where to go, you can still miss who you are looking for (I've learned the hard way several times).
Yeah, it is always disappointing to cancel cosplays you planned well in advanced...but on the bright side, it means I can just do it at a later convention (and if you're not at that convention, I'll have to take extra photos so you can see it all ~_^ )
